This picture was taken September 3rd, 1951 in front of his F-51 fighter in Korea. It was awarded to him in recognition of completing his 100th mission, which qualified a pilot to return to the US.  He flew as a member of the 'Foxy Few' 12th Fighter Bomber Squadron. My mother remembered that he went to Korea sometime in the spring of '51, and that he had been a fighter pilot instructor in Florida during WWII, training South African Air Force P-51 fighter pilots.  Sadly my father passed away in 1975.
